Quick Start

Pick a minimum account age and what happens to younger accounts.

  1. 01

    Run /alt-identifier create

Set the minimum account age in days and choose an action.

  2. 02

    Watch the Catches

The panel and the Alt Identifier page show the last 7 days, and every catch is in the audit log.

  3. 03

    Let a Real Member In

Run /alt-identifier allow with the member to skip the check for them.

All /alt-identifier commands and member menu entries need the Manage Server permission.

How It Works

The alt identifier checks every member who joins, except bots, before verification and the join announcer. Members it kicks or bans skip both.

Held members can't start verification, and aren't verified automatically when they rejoin, until their account is old enough. /alt-identifier allow lets one user in before that. Turning off the alt identifier lets held members verify again.

Members who are timed out, kicked or banned get a DM saying why, and a kicked member is told when they can join again. After 10 of these DMs in a minute, Verifier stops sending them for the rest of that minute; the action still happens.

Hold Needs Verification

Hold in verification only works when the server has a verification system. Without one, held accounts are only flagged.

Verifier Needs the Matching Permission

Time out needs Timeout Members, Kick needs Kick Members and Ban needs Ban Members; Kick with Ban after kicks needs both Kick Members and Ban Members. Saving refuses an action Verifier can't take, and the panel warns you if the permission is removed later. Until it's back, the action fails, is logged as Failed and the member gets in.

Troubleshooting

Saving fails with a permission error

Verifier is missing Timeout Members, Kick Members or Ban Members for the action you picked. Give its role the permission in Server Settings › Roles.

A real member was caught

Run /alt-identifier allow with the member, or with their user ID if they were removed. They're let in even though their account is new. Allow doesn't undo an action already taken: unban them or remove their timeout in Discord.

Held members can't verify

That's what Hold does. They can verify once their account reaches the minimum age, or right away after /alt-identifier allow.
